India's Covid Cases On 2-Month Low; Records 1.14 Lakh New Infections, 2677 Fatalities

Active coronavirus cases are down to 40% of the peak of the second wave recorded on May 8 with 38.8 lakh active cases in the country. Covid recoveries have been outnumbering new cases for three weeks in a row.

Covid in India: India reports 1,14,460 new COVID 19 cases, 1,89,232 discharges, and 2677 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Health Ministry.

Total cases: 2,88,09,339

Total discharges: 2,69,84,781

Death toll: 3,46,759

Active cases: 14,77,799

Total vaccination: 23,13,22,417

The Indian Council of Medical Research said that as many as 36,47,46,522 samples have been tested in the country up to June 5 including 20,36,311 samples tested yesterday.

India crossed a major landmark on Saturday with more than 23 Cr Vaccine Doses administered.

Maharashtra on Saturday reported as many as 13,659 new COVID-19 cases and with that, the active number of cases in the state stands at 1,88,072, as per the state health bulletin. Maharashtra also witnessed 300 deaths in the same time span. The case fatality rate is at 1.71%.

Karnataka on Friday registered 13,800 new coronavirus cases and 365 deaths, data released by the state health department said today. The total active Covid cases in the state now stand at 2,68,275, while the positivity rate and the death rate were reported at 9.69 per cent and 2.64 per cent, respectively. As many as 25,346 patients were discharged on Friday.
