Cyclonic Yaas LIVE Updates: Cyclonic Yaas intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm on Tuesday evening, and is likely to make landfall near Dhamra Port in Odisha's Bhadrak district today. In view of Cyclone Yaas, Bengal administration has evacuated over nine lakh people to safe shelters while the Odisha government has moved over 2 lakh people from vulnerable areas in coastal districts to safety. Meanwhile, NDRF has about 115 teams deployed in 5 states and 1 UT including 52 in Odisha & 45 in West Bengal.

  • Bhubaneshwar airport closed from tonight till 27th morning
  • Jharsugudaa Airport to remain shut from midnight of 26th May to 27th Morning
  • Durgapur & Rourkela Airports to be closed on 26th May due to cyclone 
  • Kolkata Airport has announced similar closures and stopped flight operations
Cyclonic Yaas LIVE: Flight operations suspended in Odisha, Bengal

Flight operations at the Kolkatas NSCBI airport will be suspended from 8.30 am to 7.45 pm.  Bhubaneshwars Biju Patnaik International airport will also remain shut till 5 am on Thursday.

In view of Cyclone Yaas, Bengal administration has evacuated over nine lakh people to safe shelters while the Odisha government has moved over 2 lakh people from vulnerable areas in coastal districts to safety. Meanwhile, NDRF has about 115 teams deployed in 5 states and 1 UT including 52 in Odisha & 45 in West Bengal.

As the storm is likely to cross the Bay of Bengal in Odisha today, the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has also alerted three of its north coastal districts. IMD has also warned that there could be heavy rainfall in parts of West Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday under the impact of cyclone.
